What is Motor Neurone Disease?

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) describes a group of diseases that affect the nerves in the brain & spinal cord. These nerves, called neurons, tell the muscles what to do. With MND, messages from your nerves gradually stop reaching the muscles, leading them to weaken, stiffen & waste. ​MND causes a range of symptoms and progresses at varying speeds, depending on the individual.

Your diagnosis could be classified as:

• Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrigs Disease).
• Bulbar Onset MND or Progressive Bulbar Palsy.
• Progressive Muscular Atrophy.
• Primary Lateral Sclerosis.
