Training News: Staying Ahead in Clinical Excellence

At HASCS, we pride ourselves on maintaining the highest standards in clinical practice. Our in-house Training and Education Team works tirelessly to ensure our clinical staff is equipped with the latest knowledge, skills, and techniques. However, we recognise the importance of complementing internal training with external expertise to maintain our commitment to clinical excellence.

Why Seek External Training?

While our internal team excels at delivering high-quality training, partnering with external agencies offers several unique benefits:

  1. Diverse Perspectives: External trainers bring fresh insights and approaches that may differ from our in-house training. This can stimulate critical thinking and inspire new ways to solve problems.
  2. Specialised Expertise: External organizations often focus on specific areas of training. Their expertise can deepen the knowledge of our staff in areas that may be outside the everyday focus of our internal team.
  3. Staying Updated: Clinical guidelines and best practices evolve continuously. Partnering with external agencies ensures that we remain updated on the latest trends, regulations, and innovations in the field.

Training with A1 Risk Solutions

Recently, members of our clinical team undertook the RoSPA Level 4 Award in Manual Handling, Train the Trainer, and Risk Assessment in People Handling with A1 Risk Solutions, a leading provider in health and safety training.

This training was particularly valuable because:

Proper manual handling is crucial in healthcare environments to ensure the safety and well-being of both patients and staff. The RoSPA Level 4 training provided our team with advanced skills to minimise the risk of injury.

By training our clinical staff to become trainers themselves, we create a ripple effect of knowledge. These staff members can now train others, ensuring that best practices in manual handling are disseminated across our entire organisation.

Effective risk assessment in people handling is essential for ensuring patient safety. The course offered a detailed framework for assessing risks, enabling our team to make informed decisions when handling patients.

This external training program with A1 Risk Solutions has reinforced our commitment to providing top-notch care and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The advanced certifications our staff has gained will enhance both patient outcomes and the safety of our clinical environment.

The trainer was highly knowledgeable, approachable, and friendly, creating a welcoming environment for questions and participation. The interactive format made the session engaging with hands-on activities and discussions. I learned several new techniques that will enhance my training delivery, making this a valuable and enjoyable learning experience.

Motor Neurone Disease Training

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord. These nerves, called neurons, tell the muscles what to do. With MND, messages from your nerves gradually stop reaching the muscles, leading them to weaken, stiffen and deteriorate. The symptoms of MND start gradually and progress at varying speeds, dependent on the individual. MND is a complex disease and whilst the needs of those living with MND may be similar, each individual experience is entirely different. With years of experience caring for those with MND, the HASCS team can help to ensure MND care is completely bespoke.

The purpose of this module is to provide a more specialist approach to the disease, covering the role of a care worker, communicating with a person who has MND, end of life care and much more. It also discussed equipment and procedures they may encounter in this role. Participants found the course informative, relevant to their practice, and appreciated its practical focus on real-world application

External training programs offer a wealth of knowledge that complements our in-house expertise. By seeking out these opportunities, we ensure that our clinical team remains at the cutting edge of the industry, allowing us to deliver the best possible care to our patients. Thank you to all external agencies and partners we use to facilitate training.
