Leo is part of our Rapid Mobilisation Team, or RMT as you may hear them be called around the office. But what is a RMT you may ask? Our specialist team of healthcare professionals are a valuable and flexible resource at HASCS. Each with extensive clinical backgrounds, they travel across the country to new packages of care, setting them up ahead of the core care team commencing.
“My name is Leo, and I have been a dedicated member of HASCS for the past two years. I work within the Mobilisation Team, where my primary focus is on new care packages and assisting other team members in familiarising themselves with the routines of our new clients. My journey in the healthcare sector has been both enriching and fulfilling, providing me with a wealth of experience and the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives.
Before joining HASCS, I spent four years working as a caregiver in Israel. This experience laid the foundation for my career in healthcare and strengthened my passion for providing compassionate care. Following that, I moved to Ireland, where I worked for nine years as a Health Care Assistant within the HSE, primarily dealing with autism cases. During this time, I gained valuable insights into managing and de-escalating challenging situations, which proved to be an essential skill in my career
Upon joining HASCS two years ago, I started as a Peripatetic Carer, which allowed me to work flexibly across different locations and gain experience with a wide range of clients. I was later promoted to Complex Care Coordinator, which further honed my ability to manage complex care needs. Then, when the opportunity arose to step into the role of Senior Carer, I embraced it wholeheartedly. This role not only expanded my clinical expertise but also provided me with a deeper understanding of complex medical care and coordination.
One of the most significant aspects of my journey with HASCS has been the extensive training and upskilling opportunities that the organization has provided. Through HASCS, I have acquired highly specialised clinical skills, including Non-Invasive Ventilation, Tracheostomy Care and Suctioning, Enteral Feeding, Catheterization, Digital Rectal Examination & Digital Rectal Stimulation, among others. HASCS has ensured that we receive intensive training and continuous clinical assessments to maintain our competency and provide the highest level of care to our service users.
Beyond the technical skills, what I love most about my role is the opportunity to travel across different regions, including Hampshire, Dorset, Dorchester, Devon, Cornwall, and the Midlands. Meeting service users from diverse backgrounds and providing them with essential support in their daily routine brings me immense joy and satisfaction. Knowing that I can make a meaningful impact on someone’s life every day keeps me motivated and committed to this profession
For those who aspire to join this industry, my advice is to ensure that you have a compassionate heart and immense patience. This profession should not be pursued solely for the sake of career advancement or financial gain. Instead, the true reward lies in the difference you make in the lives of those in need. When you find fulfilment in your work and take pride in using your clinical skills and knowledge to improve someone’s well-being, the sense of purpose you gain is invaluable. Yes, there will be challenges and difficult days, but I firmly believe that suffering cultivates perseverance, perseverance builds character, and character fosters hope.
Finally, one of the most important lessons I have learned in the past few months is the value of teamwork and communication. In healthcare, nothing is accomplished alone. The power of teamwork ensures that we can provide the best possible care for our service users. When we work together with a shared goal, we create an environment where anything is possible. Together, we can continue making a positive impact—one person at a time.”
