Healthcare assistants, support workers and nurses, what would we do without them?. Meet Jayson, Healthcare Assistant to one of our South West service users.
“Hi I’m Jayson and I am a HASCS Healthcare Assistant in the South West area. I have had the fantastic opportunity to be employed by HASCS since January 2024.
How did you get into complex care?
In my previous work overseas I also studied a variety of healthcare courses as my ‘Plan B’. Then I had the opportunity to come to the UK, and someone referred me to HASCS, as a leading complex care provider and employer.
Tell us about your career journey prior to HASCS.
From being an administrative officer for 12 years overseas to a dedicated, competent healthcare assistant in the UK was a really big career change for me. HASCS really helped me to build more confidence with up to date training on how to handle service users with complex care needs.
What do you love most about your role?
What I love the most about being a complex care healthcare assistant is when you see the service user “SMILE”, that’s fulfilling.
What advice would you give to someone beginning their career in care?
The advice I can give to someone new in this line of career, is be compassionate and enjoy. Being a healthcare assistant is not an easy job, but I am loving it!”
