Healthcare assistants, support workers and nurses, what would we do without them? Meet Neriessa, HASCS Healthcare Assistant and Team Leader.
“I am currently working as a Healthcare Assistant and have been part of the HASCS team since June 2023. With a background as a licensed Medical Technologist in the Philippines, I gained valuable clinical experience working closely with patients. Transitioning into complex care felt like a natural step, allowing me to apply my skills in a more personal and impactful way.
My previous role taught me the importance of compassion, attention to detail, and strong teamwork, qualities I continue to carry into my work at HASCS. I find the most rewarding part of my role is knowing I can make a difference in someone’s day by supporting their well-being and helping them live with dignity and comfort.
One professional achievement I’m proud of is the growth I’ve seen in myself since joining HASCS. From building my confidence to stepping into a Team Leader role, I’ve had the opportunity to support both clients and colleagues, which has been incredibly fulfilling.
My advice to anyone beginning a career in care is to stay connected to your purpose. There will be challenging days, but approaching each client with kindness, empathy, and patience can make a lasting difference.
What I appreciate most about working at HASCS is the strong sense of community and support. It’s a place where both clients and staff feel truly valued.
A fun fact about me: I love to travel and capture moments through photography. Watching sunsets is one of my favourite ways to unwind and appreciate the beauty in everyday life.”
