Cycling for a Cause: Team HASCS Takes on London to Brighton for Muscular Dystrophy UK

This September, a team of dedicated colleagues will be taking on the iconic London to Brighton Cycle Ride to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK, a charity that is particularly close to our hearts.

The team of five cyclists are aiming to raise £5,000 in support of the charity’s vital work funding research, improving access to specialist care and providing information and support to families affected by muscle-wasting conditions.

For the team, this challenge is about far more than completing 55 miles on a bike. It is an opportunity to stand alongside the people and families we support.

Every day, our teams see the resilience, determination and strength shown by individuals living with complex health conditions. Taking on this challenge is our way of showing support, raising awareness and giving back to a charity that makes a meaningful difference.

Why We’re Cycling

Jodyne Jurd, Clinical Director and one of the five riders, said:

“We’re cycling for a cause that’s very close to our hearts. This challenge is about raising awareness, showing support, and giving back to a charity that makes a real difference to people’s lives every day.”

In preparation for the event, the team has been training hard while also organising fundraising activities across the business. From workplace events to community initiatives and online donations, colleagues, families and supporters have all played a part in helping us move closer to our fundraising goal.

Many of the people we support have also been involved in their own way, sharing words of encouragement and cheering the team on throughout the journey.

Riza Tongson-Espe, Chief Executive Officer, added:

“Being person-centred and values-led is at the heart of everything we do. Taking on this challenge felt like a natural way to support a cause that aligns so closely with the people we care for. We’re incredibly proud of the team for stepping up and making a difference.”
