Meet Shara, one of our Rapid Mobilisation Team members; learn about her journey with HASCS, and why passion matters just as much as skill. From Dubai to the Philippines to the UK, it’s been a path shaped by experience, empathy, and creativity.
“I’ve been working with HASCS as part of the Rapid Mobilisation Team for over two years. Before that, I was in domiciliary care and later moved into complex care, a field I first encountered in Dubai and through caring for my grandmother and mother in the Philippines.
What I enjoy most about my role is the flexibility and freedom it offers. It lets me express creativity and engage in work I truly love, bringing my passion and ideas to life.
One of my proudest achievements is the trust and respect I’ve built at HASCS. I’ve formed strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and their families. I’m also gaining deeper insight into critical aspects of care, especially patient mobilisation and managing care plans from start to finish—enhancing my skills and expanding my knowledge.
My advice to anyone starting in care: don’t just focus on skills—develop a genuine passion for the job and the people you serve. Skills alone aren’t enough. Without joy and fulfilment, burnout can follow. Empathy and dedication are key, and loving what you do makes all the difference in delivering excellent care.
Think long-term. A high salary doesn’t define success. True fulfilment comes from doing your job well and making a meaningful impact on patients and their families. That’s worth more than money.
What I love about HASCS is their openness to improvement. As staff, we just need to be transparent so they understand what needs to change, while also considering our perspective.
A fun fact about me: I have a creative side I express through building websites, editing videos, organising events, and working on design and branding. I also used to be a professional musician, which adds another layer to my creative background!”
