Executive Leadership Team

  • Gordon Ward

    Chief Executive Officer

    Over the years Gordon has been involved with running and building many successful companies across multiple industries. In the care sector, it began with Beaumont Park Nursing Home. From there, Gordon built the Beaumont Home Care brand and other well respected companies, in the UK as well as in Toronto and Manila.

  • Riza Tongson-Espe

    Chief Operating Officer

    Riza was born and bred in the Philippines. She is a qualified Intensive Care Nurse registered in three different countries – The Philippines, The United States and the UK. Riza immigrated to the UK in January 2001, after she had been head hunted, and was the first Filipino Nurse to work in The General Intensive Care Unit, at the University Hospital of Southampton. In 2008, Riza ventured into complex care, working as a Nurse Manager for various companies. However, passionate to challenge the norm in the complex care sector, and determined to make a difference, Riza went on to develop the HASCS care model – bespoke, patient-centred, ethical, and truly clinically led. With the backing of Lord Gordon Ward, HASCS was born and is one of the major key players in the complex care industry. Riza enjoys travelling to different parts of the world and doing charitable work for the elderly and orphans.

  • Deborah Bailey

    Head of Business Development & Contracts

    Deborah started her career as a nurse. She was an Intensive Care Senior Sister and as such fully understand the complexities of providing complex care. Deborah has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and has extensive leadership experience in both operational and strategic roles in both the NHS and independent sectors. Deborah lives near the Jurassic coast in Dorset with her husband and son.

  • Jonn Gunn

    Head of Finance

    John has a BSc in Economics and is a qualified accountant and corporate treasurer. With nearly 30 years working in industry he has worked within financial services and also private equity owned leisure businesses before joining HASCS in July 2020. John was an Officer in the Army Reserves for 7 years and still enjoys getting out on the hills in the Brecon Beacons.

  • Alena Clemo

    Clinical Director

    Alena is a registered nurse with an extensive background in respiratory nursing and more recently as a lung cancer specialist nurse. She joined HASCS in 2019 after working consistently in the NHS for 20 years. Alena’s passion is providing safe and compassionate care whilst ensuring that the client remains at the centre of everything that HASCS do. Alena enjoys spending time with her family and dog, especially when they go camping, and is a massive fan of cake!

  • Joanna Baker

    Clinical Director

    After qualifying Joanna worked within the NHS, specialising in Critical Care where she worked for 10 years before transferring over to Complex home care. In 2019, she joined HASCS and never looked back. Joanna is focused on ensuring clients live their lives to their full potential. Joanna has 3 young children and a baby Rottweiler. She loves long distance running and cycling with a team called Ruggamuffins, and is also a gym fanatic – think Tough Mudder and you will have the right idea.

  • Emily Standing

    Regional Office Manager

    Emily has a background in the Maritime and Engineering Industries, including roles in recruitment & marketing. She joined HASCS in early 2019 as she wanted to work in an organisation which makes a difference to people’s lives. Emily was raised on a working farm and so enjoys getting back to nature – at the weekends you will often find her hanging out with her sheep companions!

  • Gabbie Worsley

    Regional Office Manager

    Gabbie has a background in sales and customer service. She joined HASCS in 2018 as she wanted to start a career within the care sector and make a difference. Gabbie enjoys taking her 3 dogs on country walks and travelling the world with her family.

  • Tony Smith

    Compliance & Governance Manager (Nominated Individual)

    Tony has spent the last 10 years working with The Care Quality Commission as an Inspector before retiring and joining HASCS in November 2019. As Compliance & Governance Manager Tony brings a wealth of experience to ensure that HASCS delivers Safe and Effective Care to our service users. Tony enjoys sports photography and following non-league football.

  • Tara Crawley

    HR Manager

    Tara has a successful 20+ year career in supporting frontline policing. When her family relocated, she wanted her next role to also be centred around people. Joining HASCS has allowed Tara to use her skills and experience in Human Resources to serve our clients and staff, keep people safe and improve their quality of life. Tara is a keen professional rugby union fan who spends her spare time travelling across the UK and Europe to support her chosen team, even going as far as New Zealand to support the national side!

  • Shumena Amin

    HR Manager

    Shumena has a Bsc in Business management and is also an Associate of The Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. She has a background in working in the third sector, and as such is a useful addition to the HASCS family. Shumena has a sound understanding of employment law and good practice, and has a particular interest in helping staff to meet their true potential. In her spare time she enjoys long walks admiring nature, and loves going off the beaten track.
