Rosey’s Royal Encounter

The King has taken the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister on a tour of the Cornish housing project he inspired in a rare joint engagement between the monarch and political leaders.

The first stop on their tour was Newquay Orchard, an innovative space deeply rooted in nature and community spirit. This vibrant orchard offers a range of opportunities, including vocational learning, adult education, skills development, and arts events.

Among those present for the royal visit was Rosey, HASCS service user and volunteer at the orchard, accompanied by Tamina HASCS Healthcare Assistant. Both had the privilege of meeting King Charles and sharing their experiences of the orchard’s impact.

Guided by the site’s chief executive, Charlotte Hill, the guests explored key features of the project, including the café, community kitchen, and allotments.

Ms Hill said after the visit:

“It is not often that we get this opportunity, and it is really good for us to be able to demonstrate just what can be done.”

This visit not only underscored the orchard’s role in empowering individuals through education and sustainability but also reinforced the importance of collaborative efforts in shaping thriving communities.

As a complex care provider, HASCS is committed to supporting service users in integrating into their communities and living life on their own terms. By facilitating access to projects like Newquay Orchard, we empower individuals to build connections, develop new skills, and participate in activities that enhance their independence and well-being.

The visit not only underscored the importance of sustainable community initiatives but also showcased how collaboration between different sectors can drive positive change.
