Riza Tongson-Espe

Riza was born and bred in the Philippines. She is a specialist Intensive Care Nurse registered in the three countries: the Philippines, the United States and the UK. Riza immigrated to the UK in January 2001 after being head hunted, and was the first Filipino Nurse to work at the University Hospital Southampton’s General Intensive Care Unit.

Determined to make an impact on the way care is delivered to individuals in their own home and to drive change to the conventional approach in complex care, Riza went on to develop the HASCS care model – bespoke, person-centred, ethical, and truly clinically led care.

Riza leads our Rapid Mobilisation Team and works actively in the field supporting initial assessments and risk assessments, attending Multidisciplinary Teams meetings and leading on discharge planning.

Riza enjoys travelling to different parts of the world and supporting charitable work for the elderly and orphans with an emphasis on making positive change.
